Social Media Marketing? Don't forget the golden rule!

Social media can be one of the most useful and far-reaching marketing tools a business owner can use. It's the perfect way to share projects, ideas, behind the scenes peeks, works in progress; really, the content options are endless.

There's always one thing to keep in mind though: regardless of where you are in your career, the true strength of social media relies on being social. If someone takes the time to comment on one of your posts, take the time to respond to them. You don't need to write a novel, but a quick 'thank you' can go a long way.

Take a look at the social media accounts of any major brand, or even a private brand with a large following, and you'll notice that they respond to the majority of their comments, especially specific questions.

Investing the time to keep your followers engaged is well worth it. Even for audience members who don't reach out, seeing you responding thoughtfully to questions posed will help build trust in you and your brand.
