It's okay to take a break! Just don't forget to get back to it.

I'm coming off an extended break from blogging and being active with my MAW social media accounts. I'll be the first to tell you it's important to stay consistent with your marketing. However, I'll also follow that up with "but not to the detriment of your health or your clients."

I started directing my energy in a totally different way a few months ago, and the amount of success I've experienced has been wonderful. I'm booking jobs with dream clients, and the projects are dynamic and challenging. However, dream clients come with higher demands, and my attention had to be on them and their needs and how to flow with them.

I struggled with the break at first, but that lasted about ten minutes and then I put my head down and got to work. I knew that, if I could work the way I usually do and not put pressure on myself about getting it all done, I could come back and begin "fresh." All of the jobs I'm booking and clients I'm working with are allowing me to create amazing content for marketing, both for them and for me. Now that I'm able to spend more time writing and sharing, it's really fun to comb through the images and projects and see what angle I'm going to come from.

Two screens full of images, files, and the Photoshop window
Editing, watermarking, and organizing projects; all in a season's work!

Moral of the story: if you're so busy that you don't have time to keep up with marketing/blogging/emailing, it's totally okay. Take the break you need to keep your sanity and satisfy your clients. Keep your marketing in the back of your mind and share with your audience when you have the time. True, loyal customers won't be bothered by the lull. In fact, they may be more excited to hear from you after a break!
